* Luffas are INSANE. Tomatoes are plentiful, but still mostly green - 2 days ago was the first larger tomato with a hint of pink! Zucchinis are still growing, but haven't given them much attention lately besides checking on the couple baseball bats intended to be used for seeds...

* Got the butternut barricade up, and they're looking good with eggplants growing underneath! 

* Herbs are starting to flower, especially the chamomile & Feverfew!

* Brassicas are mixed. Brussels have th blossoms growing...Broccoli is starting to see some issues, but is giving small broccoli florest for now. Definitely plant more in succession fall/next year!

* Luffas are starting to climb the arch! Maybe half? are already making their way up, and others are all getting close. Training them to climb is definitely helping too. One flower showed up, but fell maybe 24 hours later. Same clean cut as the zucchini flowers that are falling....noticing they're all male.... so maybe just part of the process? Learning as I go! 2 are fighting now for the "star" spot!

* Tomato Trail is now just over half bricked...and waiting for more bricks. Mulched the half that was ready for mulch and it is looking so nice!! Lots of tomatoes to still go....along with watermelon, cucumber, beans, spicy peppers, and a few other things....that are getting nursed along until the tractor can open up the ground for them to go in! 

* Finally spotted pests on the brassicas and have been pulling off caterpillars the last few mornings. Satisfying to actually see and remove them! Chickens get a snack, and I'm starting to see the damage slow down. Staying on alert! Tomatillos are BURSTING in the top tier and so aesthetic! 

* Also seeded and waiting for sprouts (direct): beans, marigolds

*The Luffas pulled through! I even had both a new one with starter leaves show up yesterday morning, AND a seed with a sprout show up at the top of a pot as I was planting them today - so I'm still excited for them. Tendrils and the start to some flowers! With the arch my FIL got in, I'm excited to see how they grow over the rest of the summer! 

* Lots of surprise of abundance - 24 Zuccs from an expected 14 cells for instance! And 2 suprise Luffa after a lot of rain this week from seeds that didnt take before! Not to mention the trailer load I was surprised with, and accepted the challenge to get them all in ground! Thankful, but its a lot!

*The Luffas sadden me. Being new to them, it'll be a learning curve. But they did get sick, and it spread, so I took some time to trim them and start getting them more sun and airflow and time to dry out as all three things seemed to be an issue causing it. While I'm hopeful some will pull through, it definitely caused a big hit to the luffa army. :(
